Sharon Kay Helton

Sharon K. Helton, 63, of Riverside, MO, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at a North Kansas City Hospital.

Ms. Helton was born January 8, 1949 to Eddie and Mildred (Dewey) Smith in St. Joseph, where she resided most of her life before moving to Riverside Mo. five years ago. Sharon was married to Dennis Shoves, who preceded her in death. She attended Lafayette High School and was of the Baptist faith. Sharon worked at The Bucket Shop, Big Smith, Whitaker Cable, St. Joseph State Hospital, Sherwood Medical and most recently Saxton Care Centers.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Dennis Shoves; four brothers, Frankie, Arlin, Claud, and Ronnie Smith; three sisters, Zeta Humphrey, Linda Sue Baxter, and Norma Gene Morgan; and one step-daughter, Dee Dee Ann Helton.

She is survived by four sons, Rickie (Kristina), of St. Joseph, LeRoy Jr. (Theresa Brown), of Stewartsville, Rodney (Pam), of Grandview, MO, and Ronnie Helton of St. Joseph; two sisters, Peggy (Eugene) Browning, of Pattonsburg, MO and Pete Yandell, of Fulton, MO; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.

Ms. Helton has been cremated under direction of Clark-Sampson Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23 at Clark-Sampson Funeral Home with inurnment following in Sugar Creek Cemetery, Rushville, MO.
